EAGLE — The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation announced Monday it is closing until further notice the swimming beach at Eagle Island State Park after reports of illness.
Tests conducted by the Division of Environmental Quality last week showed no problems, according to a news release from the state Department of Parks and Recreation. But reports from visitors over the weekend have prompted officials to close the popular swimming area until additional testing can take place this week.
The waterslide, picnic areas, disc golf and equestrian areas will remain open.
"The health and safety of our visitors is our top priority," Director Nancy Merrill said in the release. "We're all concerned over the reports of illness and want to do what we can to be proactive in protecting our guests."
