STATESMAN STAFFJuly 14, 2014

Haley Nist of Meridian shot the lowest round of the IGA Women's Amateur State Championship on Sunday at BanBury Golf Course in Eagle en route to a runaway victory.

Nist's 68 gave her a three-day total 213 for a nine-stroke victory over Sierra Harr of Buhl.

Defending champion and recent Vallivue High grad Gabby Barker took third place at 226.

Nist, who has signed to play for Oregon State, also won the Idaho Trusted choice Big "I" Championship at Shadow Valley on Thursday.

Her two victories this week come on the heels of a win in the Dropping Junior Championship in June and her second straight 4A Idaho high school state championship for the Knights in May.

At the Women's Amateur, Nist led from start to finish. She was tied atop the leaderboard with an opening round of 74, then followed that with Saturday's lowest round of 71.
