A man who police say robbed a gas station in Caldwell Friday night was caught a couple of hours later, after he came out of a local restaurant / bar.

The Stinker Station at 7th and Cleveland streets in Caldwell was robbed at 7:15 p.m. Officers arrived quickly and viewed security footage.

Just before 9 p.m., a citizen reported a reckless vehicle speeding and running stop lights. It matched the description of the robbery suspect's vehicle.

Soon after, the police located that vehicle in the 2500 block of Cleveland Boulevard. It was parked behind a restaurant.

Officers waited for the suspect to leave the crowded establishment before attempting to take him into custody. He was surrounded by police before he got to his vehicle.

The suspect identified himself as Jose Diaz, but investigators determined that his real name is Roel Aaron Garcia, a fugitive from Texas. He was booked into the Canyon County Jail on a charge of armed robbery. More charges may be filed.
