Letter: Electric vehicles

July 13, 2014

When I drive my all-electric Nissan Leaf, I can go roughly 200 miles for a fuel cost of $3.73, the price of a gallon of gasoline.

Why are so many people in Boise still driving low-mileage, gas-guzzling, fume-belching internal combustion engine vehicles?

Do they not know about electric vehicles?

Electric vehicles simply do urban driving better. No imported oil is needed. You don't have to worry about what's happening in Iraq or Saudi Arabia or Venezuela that might affect the price of gasoline. Your electricity comes from inexpensive, domestic sources.

And with a zero-emission vehicle you are improving the air quality of Boise.
