Idaho Statesman pro golf tour watch

STATESMAN STAFFJuly 10, 2014

Each month, we'll update the progress of former Boise State star and Meridian resident Graham DeLaet on the PGA Tour and check in with select other pro golfers with local ties.

DeLaet: He is 27th in the FedExCup standings and ranked 35th in the world. DeLaet's ranking is high enough to place him in the field for the British Open, set for July 17-20 at Royal Liverpool. He missed the cut at the U.S. Open in June, then tied for 51st in his most recent outing at the Travelers Championship.

Troy Merritt (Boise State/Meridian): Merritt tied for 16th this past weekend at the Greenbrier Classic, finishing with a 7-under 273 - nine shots back of winner Angel Cabrera. Merritt is 107th in the FedExCup standings.

Madeleine Sheils (Bishop Kelly High): Sheils has two top-10 finishes this season on the Symetra Tour, including a fifth-place showing at the Four Winds Invitational from June 20-23. She ranks 35th on the tour's official money list with $14,228 in earnings.
