Local golfers compete for spot in Big 'I' national event

BOISE — More than 50 boys and girls will vie for the Idaho Trusted Choice Big "I" Championship title Wednesday and Thursday at Shadow Valley Golf Course. Tee times begin at 7 a.m. each day. The top two boys and girls will represent Idaho at the 46th Trusted Choice Big "I" National Championship on Aug. 5-8 at Pete Dye Club in Bridgeport, W. Va.

American Legion tournaments invade Valley this week

• RIVER CITY CLASSIC: Fourteen teams from four states and Australia are scheduled to compete Wednesday through Sunday. The 38-game tournament takes place at Fort Boise, Timberline, Mountain View and Rocky Mountain high schools. Single-game admission is $6 for adults and $4 for youth.

• DONNELLEY SUMMER CLASSIC: Eighteen teams from Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Canada play Thursday through Sunday at Borah, Capital and Centennial high schools. Single-game admission is $8 for adults and free for seniors and children 12 and younger.
