Suspect questioned in Hailey-area fire; containment expected Wednesday

July 7, 2014

An 18-year-old man has been questioned in connection with the Colorado Gulch Fire near Hailey but has not been charged, the Blaine County Sheriff said Monday evening.

The fire started Sunday evening and burned more than 700 acres. Evacuations ordered for about 20 homes in the Croesus Creek and Rodeo Drive areas were quickly lifted Monday, and officials said the fire was about 20 percent contained by 6 p.m. They now expect it to be fully contained Wednesday, according to a tweet Tuesday morning from the BLM. No buildings have been damaged.

The Colorado Gulch Fire is being fought under the command of Wood River Fire & Rescue and the BLM, with resources from fire departments from Hailey, Ketchum, Sun Valley and Bellevue.
