Literacy in the Park: Boise Public Library is partnering with The Idaho Foodbank and the Idaho Commission for Libraries to offer storytimes and related activities in the park during the summer, for kids ages 2-10. Books will be available for checkout in the parks on the following days and times through Aug. 9.

Early Literacy: Thursday, July 10, 10:30–11:15 a.m., Boise Public Library, Hillcrest branch. This storytime for preschool children is also a workshop for parents to learn ways to help their children develop early literacy and math skills that will help them be successful in kindergarten and beyond. This series of storytimes runs on an eight-week cycle and focuses on a different skill each week. No registration is required. If you miss a week, feel free to drop in during the next cycle of classes, and come as often as you like. This week's skill is telling stories.

Hillview Book Club: Monday, July 14, 9:30 a.m. This group comes early to grab a morning coffee or tea and a snack, and then gets cozy and chats about great books. Barnes & Noble, Boise.

Campfire Stories @ The Modern: Monday, July 14, 8–10 p.m. Campfire Stories is a summer reading series hosted by the Modern Hotel and Bar. Each of these events will feature an author or two, and we'll be on hand with copies of their books to sell. Come sit by the fire, grab a drink and share some stories. 1314 W. Author event at the Saturday Market: Saturday, July 19, 11 a.m. Artist Mark W. McGinnis will be selling and talking about his book of paintings, "Snake River Basin." This ongoing series of paintings samples the Snake River Basin and a small portion of the beauty that needs to be preserved. Rediscovered Books, Boise.

Saturday Storytime: Saturday, July 19, 11 a.m. Stories featuring fun in the summer sun. Barnes & Noble, Boise.

Idaho Book & Beer Night: Saturday, July 19, 7p.m. The third Book & Beer Night has arrived, this time featuring a topical and fantastic book called "Idaho Beer: From Grain to Glass in the Gem State" by Steven J. Koonce. He will read from and talk about his book. Bittercreek Alehouse will be serving up beer. Rediscovered Books, Boise.
