Outdoor burning is prohibited in Boise and other incorporated and unincorporated areas of Ada County because of a yellow (moderate) air quality alert issued for Sunday by the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality.
Outdoor burning is also banned in Nampa, Caldwell and other cities in Canyon County. Burning is allowed, however, in rural Canyon County.
Woodstoves can be used in both counties.
Sunday's air quality is predicted to be 65. When the number falls within the moderate category of between 51 and 100, air quality is acceptable. However, people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution may face a moderate health concern for some pollutants.
