Hawks top Dust Devils; homestand begins Friday


PASCO, Wash. - Right fielder Jeffrey Baez put Boise on the scoreboard with a solo home run in the fourth inning, and the Hawks shut out Tri-City 4-0 late Thursday night at Gesa Stadium. Second baseman Alex Tomasovich went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Boise, and was the only Hawk with a multi-hit game. Starting pitcher Trevor Clifton gave up four hits in six innings of work, striking out seven and walking three, while improving to 2-0 this season. Tri-City starter Helmis Rodriguez took the loss despite striking out nine Boise batters. The Hawks, who have won three straight games, return home Friday for the start of a six-game homestand.

STANDING-ROOM ONLY FRIDAY: Boise announced Friday's game against Eugene is sold out. Limited amounts of standing room only tickets are still available for $7. The Hawks average attendance for eight openings this season is 2,356. Memorial Stadium's capacity is 3,452. Friday's game has a special start time of 7:35 p.m. and will be followed by fireworks.
