Star police officers responding to a report of a driver weaving into oncoming traffic Wednesday found 3.44 pounds of marijuana and 1.65 pounds of hash oil mixed with marijuana butter in the suspect vehicle, the Ada County Sheriffs Office reports. . Robert Simunich, 35, of Bend, Ore., was booked into the Ada County Jail Wednesday afternoon on a felony charge of marijuana trafficking. Investigators estimate the drugs' street value to be about $16,0000, according to an ACSO news release.
Officers were called to the area of North Can Ada Road and West State Street in Star Wednesday morning after multiple people called Ada County dispatch to report a Nissan Altima was weaving onto the shoulder and into oncoming traffic, nearly causing multiple crashes.
Police stopped the Nissan at North Center Street. A police dogs search of the vehicle led investigators to a large bag of marijuana in the trunk and hash oil/marijuana butter in the back seat, the sheriffs office reports.
Officers arrested the driver, Simunich, who remained in the Ada County Jail Thursday. In addition to the drug charge, he was cited for reckless driving.
