A half-acre grass and brush fire south of Overland Road near Ten Mile Road was reportedly threatening a home about 3 p.m., but by around 3:30 Meridian firefighters had it under control and were mopping it up, Meridian Fire Department Operations Chief David Jones said.

Two Meridian engines and a brush truck responded to the fire, and a Kuna truck was en route when the fire came under control, Jones said. The fire was burning in an open area with scattered houses, he said. No structures were damaged.
