Bob Godsill closed the Meridian location of his Cheerleaders Sports Bar and Grill in mid-June and will concentrate on his second location at 815 Ann Morrison Park Drive near Boise State University.

He opened the Meridian Cheerleaders at 3541 N. Eagle Road six years ago, and the Boise location in November 2013. He didn't plan on the move but business in Meridian fell off in recent months after road construction configured the turn lanes making his restaurant more difficult to access, Godsill said. He added that competition in Meridian has increased dramatically in the past two years.

“I could see the writing on the wall,” he said.

Cheerleaders in Boise has several large flat-screen TVs. It serves burgers, wraps and flatbread pizzas, and pours 37 beers on tap, a wide range of wines and cocktails from the football-shaped bar.

You’ll find happy hour food and two-for-one specials from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and more drink specials from 6 p.m. to close. Cheerleaders is open 11 a.m.-midnight Sundays-Thursdays and 11 a.m.-1 a.m. Fridays-Saturdays for the summer. Phone: 789-0270.

Godsill also owns Bob’s Sunrise Café with locations at 200 E. Main St., Middleton; 7135 W. State St., Boise and 805 N. Main St., Meridian.
