Boise State's Bates takes sixth in nationals debut

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Emma Bates finished the women's 10,000 meters with a time of 32 minutes, 51.49 seconds at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships on Thursday. In the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase preliminaries, Marisa Howard (Boise State) and Megan Rolland (Emmett High) did not qualify. Howard took 15th with a 9:51.05, and Rolland was 22nd at 10:04.24.
