Test knowledge of Idaho traffic laws with new phone app

June 25, 2014

One of the questions on the Idaho driver's license mobile app asks about laws pertaining to bicycles. The correct answer is the last one "Bicyclists must yield right-of-way to vehicles in or already at the intersection.

The Idaho Transportation Department has developed a phone application that allows users to see how well they know Idaho's rules of the road.

“Idaho Driver’s License Practice Test” app is available for Apple, Android and Windows mobile devices.

The app consists of 32 multiple-choice questions and provides scores and answers as soon as the test is completed. The practice test is different each time because the questions are pulled randomly from a large question bank.

“Even though these are not the exact questions from the knowledge test, this will help people study the Driver’s License Manual to be able to pass the actual test,” Debra Hall, driver’s license program supervisor, said in a written release.

This app is a direct result of public feedback received by ITD.

“This mobile app is a fun way to test your knowledge, even if you are a seasoned driver and don’t need to take the licensing test,” said Ed Pemble, ITD Driver Services manager.

This is ITD's third mobile app, joining an Aeronautics app that was deployed in 2012 and the Idaho Travelor Services 511 app released in April.

An electronic version of the Idaho Driver’s Manual is available in English and Spanish on the ITD Driver Services website, located at www.itd.idaho.gov/dmv .

Hard copies of the Idaho Driver’s Manual also are available at each driver’s license office.
