Interstate 84 east of Broadway to close some nights this week

June 23, 2014

This map shows the detours that will be in place for up to four hours each night June 24-26.

Interstate 84 traffic will be detoured onto Federal Way between the Eisenman Road and Broadway Avenue interchanges for parts of three nights this week while workers blast basalt rock at the Gowen Road exit.

The detour will be in place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, through Thursday, June 26.

The rock must be removed to allow construction of a new interchange at Gowen Road, according to a press release from the Idaho Transportation Department.

Flaggers will direct traffic during the detours, ITD says.

Blasting at the Gowen Road interchange began last week. Overall, ITD expects blasting will require closures for about 30 evenings sprinkled across June, July and August.

Built by Knife River Corp. of Boise, the new $27 million interchange is expected to be finished in late 2015. Another round of blasting is planned for spring 2015.
