Letter: Supporting Bergdahl

June 22, 2014

Thank you for your common-sense overview of the Bergdahl hullabaloo. People need to turn off the TV and take a deep breath. This was a good kid who thought that by joining the armed forces he would be able to fight for something noble. Whatever the circumstances of his leaving the base and time in incarceration, let's not demonize this young man. Better to look at him as one of our own sons who left home and lost his way under very tumultuous circumstances.

Despite the babel of pundits and rabble-rousers, his family and the Wood River Valley community will continue to stand by him.
