Tanner Myler, who graduated from Eagle High School a year ago, will appear with his band Beyond 5 on the season premier of the network talent show.

The group, which formed in Provo, Utah, and is now based in Nashville, was chosen from among 500 performers from the West who auditioned for the show. The group has been performing since June 2013.

Myler sings for the five-member boy band. While a student at Eagle High, Myler was a member of the award-winning Sonous varsity choir. He also played leading roles in school musicals.

Myler, who also plays the piano and drums, played tennis and golf in high school. He is an Eagle Scout.

He is currently a student at Brigham Young University.

Rising Star, hosted by Josh Groban and starring Brad Paisley, Kesha and Ludacris, airs from 7 to 9 p.m. on KIVI-TV, Channel 6.

For the first time, home viewers will be able to vote on whether competing performers advance in the competition.
