The big bunny rescued from a trash can in Kuna June 9 now has a new home, the Ada County Sheriffs Office reported Thursday.
The 11-pound neutered male rabbit, apparently a Flemish Giant crossbreed, has been adopted from the Idaho Humane Society. The shelter got multiple calls from people interested in adopting the pet rabbit, and the rabbit was placed with an experienced owner earlier this week, the ACSO reports.
The previous owner of the pet rabbit never came forward, officials said.
Two 12-year-old girls heard strange sounds from a trash can near Kuna Middle School June 9, peeked in and saw the rabbit, then ran to the nearby police station to report it. An officer rescued the rabbit, which was hot and thirsty but otherwise OK.
