Emily Hamlin was honored as the 2013-14 Gatorade Idaho Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year on Thursday.

The junior won three individual titles at the 5A state meet, each in record time. Hamlin swept the 800 meters (2:13.23), 1,600 (4:55.06) and 3,200 (10:47.02), leading the Braves to a third-place finish as a team.

She also took second in the 1,500 at the elite Arcadia Invitational.

“Emily Hamlin is a tremendous track and field athlete,” Capital coach Bryan Stich said in a press release. "She won three events at the state track meet and is always very impressive. She had an outstanding junior year and I look forward to her winning more state titles next year and running times that put her into an elite class of runners."
