The 21-year-old Ontario man accused of stabbing his father to death Monday is now in police custody.
Gregory Escobedo Jr. turned himself in to the Ontario Police Department on Wednesday night. He is being held at the Malheur County Jail in Vale, Ore., on suspicion of murder and parole violations. His first court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
Police think Escobedo Jr. stabbed his father, Gregory Escobedo Sr., during an altercation Monday night outside an apartment complex at 555 N.W. 9th St. Escobedo Sr., 39, died at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Ontario.
Escobedo Jr. fled the scene on foot, police say. The search for him began immediately after the stabbing. Police had warned that he was armed and dangerous and should not be approached by the public.
The investigation into the alleged murder continues. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed Thursday on Escobedo Sr.
