Truck-bike collision seriously injures Boise man

June 17, 2014

A Boise man in his 30s suffered apparent head and leg injuries when he collided with a pickup in the intersection of South Federal Way and East Gowen Road on Tuesday evening.

Boise police said the cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was conscious and alert when he was taken to a nearby hospital. But after examination, medical personnel told officers the man's injuries were serious and potentially life-threatening.

The truck, driven by a Boise man in his early 20s, was headed east on Gowen and the cyclist was in the intersection going north on Federal Way when the crash occurred shortly before 5 p.m., Boise police report.

Responding officers say it appears the pickup driver had the green light entering the intersection. No citations have been issued. The crash is still under investigation.

Officers closed Gowen Road for a time to aid the investigation.
