Ontario police: 21-year-old wanted in stabbing death of dad

A 39-year-old Ontario man died from stab wounds at an Oregon hospital Monday night, and police are searching for his son in connection with the homicide.

Gregory Escobedo, Sr., died at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Ontario. His son, Gregory Escobedo, Jr., 21, is wanted on a warrant for murder.

At 9:20 p.m. Monday, police were called to a report of an assault outside an apartment complex at 555 N.W. 9th St. Gregory Escobedo, Sr., was found to have been stabbed in the upper body.

Gregory Escobedo, Jr., fled on foot, according to Ontario Police Chief Mark Alexander. There are no known vehicles associated with him, police said.

The knife used in the fatal stabbing has not yet been recovered.

"We have not been able to gain useful information from key witnesses," Alexander said.

Police say Gregory Escobedo, Jr., is armed and dangerous, and the public should not approach him. Anyone who has seen him, or has information on his whereabouts, is asked to call Ontario Police Department at 541-889-7266.
