Letter: Term limits

June 15, 2014

Shouldn't Bradley Robertson's "Amend Constitution" letter, May 29, to install term limits for people elected as members of Congress be given serious consideration?

Is it possible that we now have a government of, by and for big business and corporations, evidenced by the fact that huge amounts of money are being contributed to candidates' campaigns to keep them in the positions they want for themselves?

Isn't it obvious that they have no conception of what it means to promote a government of, by and for the people advancing freedom, justice and equality under God?

It would appear that we now have members of government who are selfish, self-centered and egotistical.

Aren't the advantages that people enjoy today accomplished by people who were elected in the distant past who truly cared about the people?

Advantages that present-day political hacks would like to remove? I agree with Mr. Robertson that amending the Constitution to install term limits for elected officials would cause them to rethink their priorities.
