It's that time of year again, and we're looking forward to seeing your best photos of Idaho's great outdoors. Take your best shots and get them to Idaho Camera.
Veteran photo contest participants should take note of a couple rule changes this year. People are limited to three entries, and maximum size is 12-inches by 18-inches.
Sorry, still no digital photo entries. You have to get them printed to enter.
Here are the contest rules. Please read them carefully, especially rules for submitting photos.
Open to: All amateur photographers, which is anyone who does not derive their main source of income from selling photography. Youth are in two divisions: under age 14 and ages 14 through 18.
Theme: Idaho Outdoors, and all entries must be taken in Idaho. That can include scenic, action or wildlife photographs.
Deadline: All entries must be received by Idaho Camera by the end of business hours on July 18. Winning photos will be published in Idaho Outdoors on July 31.
Size and number: Participants may enter no more than three photographs. Entries smaller than 5X7 or larger than 12X18, and those not on photo-quality paper will not be accepted. Digital photographs are not accepted. Photos may not be framed, but matted photos are accepted.
Photo information required: On the back of each photo, or attached to it on a separate piece of paper taped or glued (no paper clips), include the following:
1. Name of the photographer.
2. A daytime telephone number.
3. Email address.
4. Where the photo was taken and a short description of it.
5. Age of photographer if entering youth categories. Mark "Youth" on the back of the photo.
Entries without complete information may be disqualified.
Photos can be dropped off or mailed to any of the Idaho Camera locations:
Orchard 1310 N. Orchard, Boise.
Vista Village 1036 Vista, Boise.
Boise Towne Square 350 N. Milwaukee, Boise.
Entries will be available to be picked up at the Idaho Camera on Orchard after publication on Aug. 8 until January 1, 2015.
Other guidelines: Entries may be either color or black and white. Photos should be an accurate representation of the "natural" scene or subject being photographed. Photographs manipulated to change, remove or add content to the image will be subject to disqualification. Panoramic photos combined together with two or more frames will be considered if the digital stitching does not change, remove or add content to the image. Image toning to correct color and contrast is acceptable. Over-saturated color or other dramatic toning techniques will be considered for artistic interpretation, but may be deemed in conflict with the natural theme intended for the Idaho Outdoors photo contest.
Important note: Photo Contest entries submitted to The Idaho Statesman and Idaho Camera may be published or distributed in print, electronic or other forms.
What you might win: The winning photographs and honorable mentions will be published in the July 31 issue of Idaho Outdoors, and Grand Prize will be a Pentax K500 digital SLR camera.
The top four photos in the adult category and best photos in two youth age groups (under 14 and ages 14-18) will be awarded prizes, which will be announced later.
