Letter: Eagle Greenbelt

June 10, 2014

A response to the claim by Laguna Pointe that the City of Eagle mislead the public.

I am surprised that a small group of wealthy people living in multi-million dollar homes in Laguna Pointe are willing to portray themselves as helpless victims, especially when their spokesperson is a lawyer specializing in real estate law.

The agreement between their developer and the city of Eagle required a greenbelt path as a condition of development. The covenants for each of the homes in the area include the easement for the greenbelt.

The neighborhood association's effort to stall development and place blame upon the city is an inaccurate portrayal of the negotiations between the city and the homeowners association that should not go unchallenged. Despite the home owners effort to 'spin' this to their advantage, it is obvious which party is attempting to stall the construction of the pathway.

The completion of the path will create an important corridor for travel and recreation that is too important to let a few folks in one gated community derail.
