A woman and a boy died late Monday morning after their car collided with another car on Idaho 55 between Smith's Ferry and Round Valley, the Valley County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Two other people in the same car sustained serious injuries and were transported to a Boise hospital via air ambulance, VCSO Detective Sgt. T.J. Sayers said. Two people in the other car suffered more minor injuries and were taken to a hospital in Cascade, where they were expected to be treated and released, Sayers said.

That stretch of Idaho 55 was closed for about two hours.

Sayers described the crash as a “T-bone” collision in which the front of one car hit the passenger side of the other vehicle. The deaths and severe injuries were suffered by occupants of the car that was T-Boned, he said. No additional information about the accident was available late Monday afternoon.

Information about the deceased’s ages, identities and town of residence has not been released, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The wreck was reported shortly before 11:30 a.m.
