Want to gather mushrooms from the Boise National Forest? Rangers are offering free permits, but only for personal use.
Adults can receive the permits to pick up to five gallons of mushrooms per day within last year's large fire areas of Boise National Forest the Elk, Little Queens, Pine Creek and Trinity Ridge fire areas. Permits are free and valid until July 13.
Mushroom gatherers may not sell, barter or give away their harvest. Commercial buyers are not allowed to set up in the forest, and there will be no commercial permits issued in 2014.
Permits are available at the Idaho City Ranger Station, Boise National Forest.
