Idaho Shakespeare Festival presents 'As You Like It'

June 6, 2014

  • The details

8 p.m. June 6 (preview), June 7 (opening), 7 p.m. June 8 (family night), and dates through July 27, ISF Amphitheater, 5657 Warm Springs Ave., Boise. 336-9221.

Director Edward Morgan sets his "As You Like It" at the turn of the 20th century in America, tapping into the utopian ideals of Emerson and Thoreau to give Shakespeare's text a fresh context. Rosalind - one of Shakespeare's strongest characters - is exiled and escapes the court for the Forest of Arden, a place where she is free to redefine herself disguised as a boy. You'll find barbershop quartets, colorful vaudevillians, fools and clever, gender-bending fun.
