In unrelated cases, a Boise man and a Caldwell woman have been arrested for not following laws governing convicted sex offenders.
The first arrest came Saturday, when a Boise resident reported that a known sex offender Brandon L. Lay was mingling with several children while playing with a remote helicopter.
Officers investigating determined that Lay had not returned his address verification form. He was charged with felony failing to register as a sex offender.
According to the Idaho Sex Offender Registery, Lay has two Ada County convictions: lewd conduct with a minor under age 16 in 2001, and rape in 2004.
On Monday, a 34-year-old Caldwell woman was arrested in Eugene, Ore., for failing to register as a sex offender, the Canyon County Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday.
Samantha Lopez-Calderon, 34, had been missing since August of 2013, when she failed to sign and return her four-month address verification letter for an address on Arrowhead Drive, prosecutors say.
Lopez-Calderon, convicted of rape in the 2nd degree in Linn County in 2004, is being held in the Lane County Jail in Eugene.
