A woman and young child on a bicycle were struck by a pickup in Downtown Boise Tuesday afternoon, but they escaped serious injury. An officer at the scene said the child had some scrapes.

The low-speed collision occurred just before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of 9th and Washington streets, across the street from the Boise High gymnasium.

A pickup truck that was stopped on Washington and turning left onto 9th Street failed to yield to the bicycle that was traveling south from the sidewalk into the crosswalk on the east side of 9th Street, the investigating officer said. The officer said the driver would likely be cited.
