Letter: Gas prices

May 26, 2014

The latest read by Chevron Oil is that they are not making the profit they need?

You're kidding the people of the United Sates of America, the consumer, as in 2005 the oil companies jacked the price of gasoline from $1.90 a gallon to $5 a gallon (in three years?), taking advantage of President Bush's misnomer that we the people were addicted to gasoline!

This country was not addicted, causing the volume of gasoline being used, but that volume was what it took to maintain that level of consumption the economy this nation is dependant upon, because the economy is dependant on mobility driven by gasoline to keep this country working for productivity.

I am sure everyone knows now after the 2008 recession what happens as in 2005, when you put fear, then prudence in the buying by the consumer and putting instability in their family household budget. Proof is, the business top line sales revenue dropped, so no earnings for mandatory cost and expenses, so business shut down - so unemployment went up, sky high.
