BOISE — A grand jury has indicted a Boise man on four felony counts: lewd conduct with a child under 16, sexual abuse of a child under 16, injury to a child and burglary, and two misdemeanors: providing alcohol to a minor and petit theft.
The suspect, Shane David LaFlair, 51, is already incarcerated on an unrelated charge. According to Boise police, on Sept. 12, witnesses called police to report a man punching a teen in a parking lot near State and N. 17th streets.
Responding officers found three teens a short distance away. The suspect was no longer on scene. Officers and detectives with the Boise Police Special Victims Unit followed up and after a lengthy investigation found evidence the suspect had met the three teens earlier in the day, had stolen food and alcohol from an area store, provided the alcohol to the teens, then sexually assaulted one of them. The suspect is also accused of punching one of the teens who tried to intervene following the sexual assault.
Four days later, as officers were investigating the Sept. 12 incident, LaFlair was arrested on a separate charge following an unrelated incident. He has been incarcerated in the Ada County Jail and the South Idaho Correctional Institution since then.
LaFlair was transferred Thursday morning from the South Idaho Correctional Institution back to the Ada County Jail on a warrant. He will make his initial court appearance Friday. He is is being held on a $250,000 bond.
