The clothing store Hot Mama will open its first local store at The Village at Meridian this fall.

The privately held company describes the store as "an upscale yet down-to-earth boutique that offers contemporary designer clothing and premium denim perfectly suited for a mom's age and lifestyle."

Megan Tamte and husband Michael Tamte opened the first Hot Mama store in Edina, Minn., nine years ago. The company now has 46 stores and 700 employees in 15 states. Most of its customers are age 30 to 50.

"We love the possibilities in this rapidly growing area of the country," said Michael Tamte, co-founder and chairman.
