Before he went into business for himself, Armand Avelar of Caldwell was a store manager and trainer for Bed Bath and Beyond.
Avelar used his own money to open Idaho Thrift Store in a leased Nampa storefront at the end of January.
"We carry a little of everything," he says. The inventory includes furniture, clothing, electronics, housewares and vintage items.
Q: What made you want to open the store?
A: My wife and I both love thrift stores. I wanted to get into this part of retail and offer great products at great prices.
Q: What makes your business unique and sets it apart from your competition?
A: We buy a lot of our inventory. This gives us the opportunity to offer good quality product at good prices. We accept donations as well.
Q: What do you hope to achieve in the next three to five years?
A: I would like to have Idaho Thrift Store become a well-known thrift store for pricing and quality of products.
