I would like to take this opportunity to urge all Republicans and independent minded voters to vote in the Republican Primary on May 20th.
My name is Michael Greenway and I am running for Congress, I would like to take a moment and discuss why I am the best choice in the Republican Primary.
We need a congressman who is willing to work with both political parties in congress to achieve legislative goals. This country was not founded on division. It was founded through compromise. We cannot allow ourselves to become divided over race, religion, income, etc. We are more than Republicans and Democrats, we are Americans.
It doesnt matter whether one is rich or poor, Christian or Jewish, black or white, we are all Americans and that should be enough to unite us in difficult times.
We need a leadership in Washington that is focused on getting people back to work, tackling the budget deficit, in a pragmatic way. Shutting down the government is never the solution to our budget shortfalls. I am willing to work with both parties, and do not believe that the Republican Party has a monopoly on good ideas, and I dont believe every idea a Democrat has is bad. The best way to achieve legislative goals is through compromise and cooperation.
We need to elect politicians who are willing to cooperate with one another. Although the Tea Party has legitimate concerns over the direction of the country, their stubbornness has made a bad situation worse.
The Tea Party has taken the Republican Party so far to the right that we have become unelectable at the national level. The idea that being less cooperative and unwilling to compromise is a good thing for the country is foolish. We need a Republican Party that is solution oriented; voting no on everything President Obama proposes is not a solution. We need Republicans in office that can truly offer an alternative to the Obama agenda, and the only way to do that is by putting forth ideas that you support, not only ideas that you oppose.
When I announced my candidacy in July I laid out various pieces of legislation I would support, including the repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care Act. I am running for office so this district can have a solution oriented Congressman.
Congressman Mike Simpson in Idahos 2nd Congressional District is a strong leader in the Republican Party who truly understands how governing works in divided government. If I am fortunate enough to get elected, I will follow the strong and positive example that Congressman Mike Simpson has set.
I believe in pragmatism, and as your congressman I promise to work with any congressman or congresswoman regardless of party affiliation for the greater good of the country. We need more congressman in Washington who are willing to put our country first, and if elected I will do just that.
