BSU starts responsible business initiative

May 15, 2014

A new program at Boise State University will increase focus on business ethics and running a business that is both responsible and sustainable.

The Responsible Business Initiative is part of the College of Business and Economics. Wells Fargo put $50,000 into the program.

Don Melendez, Wells Fargo Idaho Regional Banking president, said the initiative will help “ensure that our current and future business leaders have the knowledge and skills to create economic and societal value for our communities.”

The initiative will include teaching, research and community involvement.

“These are critical skills that support the long-term viability of our economy and the sustainability of our businesses,” said Pat Shannon, business college dean.

Angeli Weller, an executive in residence at the college, will direct the initiative.
