Letter: Phil McGrane

May 11, 2014

Cast your vote for proven success. Phil McGrane, a candidate for the position of secretary of state, has earned the endorsement of both the current secretary of state, Ben Ysursa, and former Gov. Phil Batt. It's easy to understand their level of trust in his abilities.

I've known Phil for many years. I've been impressed with his character and his sense of civic and moral responsibility. During college McGrane worked at Happiness Is Camping to enrich the lives of children with life-threatening cancer. He also spent a year working for Habitat for Humanity in Alabama. His integrity and morals are unquestionable.

McGrane's law degree and his current position of overseeing the courts, auditors, recorder and elections as chief deputy Ada County clerk requires close work with the current secretary of state's office. His performance in these duties has been outstanding. His election would ensure a smooth and transparent transition with quality leadership upon Ysursa's upcoming retirement.
