TROUT UNLIMITED CASTING TOURNAMENT IS MAY 10
The Ted Trueblood chapter will host the event at Eagle Island State Park. It is a fund raiser for the South Fork of the Boise River, which was damaged by wildfire and mudslides. The tournament is similar to a golf course with four-person teams casting from a series of stations. Registration is 7:30 a.m. for gold division teams and 10:30 for silver division teams. Admission is $500 per team for gold division and $160 for silver, which includes a catered lunch. For details go to tedtruebloodtu.org/flycasting.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR FOOTHILLS SURVEY MAY 17
The sixth annual trail users survey will be used for management of the 140 miles and thousands of acres of open space on the Boise Front. Teams of two to three volunteers are needed in four-hour shifts from 7 to 11 a.m., 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. at 12 trailheads throughout the Boise Foothills.

SWAN FALLS DAM OPEN TO FOOT TRAFFIC DAILY
The footpath across the dam has been opened after being closed for several weeks for a construction project, Idaho Power said. Hikers can cross the dam and get to the west side of the Snake River, accessing miles of hiking. Swan Falls Dam is located 20 miles south of Kuna on Swan Falls Road.
