Varsity Extra: Golfers kick off busy week of district play

In addition to the District Three championship series, eight 5A SIC teams are playing for two state berths in a tournament that continues Monday. Above: Caleb Burnham and Mountain View will host Vallivue.

The state tournament fields for baseball, softball, track & field, tennis and golf will be determined this week in district tournament action. With so much going on around the Treasure Valley, here are the key dates fans need to know:

5A GOLF

Girls: Tee times begin with No. 1s at 8 a.m. and continue every eight minutes through 9:36 a.m. Monday at Warm Springs Golf Course.

Boys: Tee times start with No. 5s at 8 a.m. and continue every eight minutes through 9:36 a.m. Tuesday at Warm Springs Golf Course. No. 1s tee off as early as 9:20 a.m.

4A GOLF

Girls & boys: Tee times begin at 9 a.m. for boys and girls Monday at Desert Canyon Golf Course in Mountain Home.

3A GOLF

Girls & boys: Tee times begin at 9 a.m. for boys and girls Thursday at TimberStone Golf Course in Caldwell.

2A/1A GOLF

Boys & girls: Tee times start at noon for boys followed by girls Monday at TimberStone Golf Course in Caldwell.

BASEBALL

5A title game: Capital and Eagle play the second game of their best-of-three championship series at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Eagle. Eagle beat Capital 2-1 in Game 1. If necessary, Game 3 is at 6 p.m. Thursday at Capital.

v4A title game: 6 p.m. Friday at Bishop Kelly High. Teams are TBD.

SOFTBALL

5A title game: 6 p.m. Wednesday at Rocky Mountain High. Teams are TBD.

4A title game: 7 p.m. Thursday at Middleton High. Teams are TBD.

TRACK & FIELD

5A meet: Thursday (4:30 p.m. field events, 5:30 p.m. running events) and Friday (4:30 p.m. field events, 6 p.m. running events) at Mountain View High in Meridian.

4A meet: Thursday (3:30 p.m. field events, 4:25 p.m. running events) and Friday (3:30 p.m. field events, 5 p.m. running events) at Kuna High.

TENNIS

5A title matches: Boys and girls singles at 10:30 a.m., and boys doubles, girls doubles and mixed doubles at noon at Julia Davis Park.

4A title matches: 2 p.m. Saturday at Columbia High in Nampa.
