Letter: Contributions

May 1, 2014

In response to Jerry Davidson's April 16 letter, I like how he points out the billionaires and corporations that contribute to "right-wing" legislation and forgets to mention that there are billionaires and corporations that contribute far more to a "left-wing" agenda, i.e. George Soros and GE, respectively.

It is the rich who decide what laws to pass and what agenda to follow, but they there are on both sides of the aisle. If we want to take the power and give it back to the people, then we need to reform campaign finance laws. Until then it will always be the rich who decide everyone's fate.

And I don't want to "return" to a democracy because we never were - that's a European thing. We are a republic; there's a difference. Feel free to do some research. Don't take my word for it.
