A 53-year-old Nampa man died Wednesday after a heavy steel beam fell on him at Rule Steel just south of Middleton, the Canyon County Sheriffs Office reports.
Roy Frasier died shortly after emergency medical responders arrived on the scene around 11 a.m. Investigators were told Frasier was using a fork lift to move a 50,000 pound steel beam when the beam fell off the lift, trapping him, according to a sheriffs news release.
Other employees rushed to his aid and managed to move the beam, but he died a short time later, investigators said.
Canyon deputies, Middleton firefighters and Canyon County paramedics responded to the industrial accident at the company's headquarters, 11299 Bass Lane.
The sheriffs office declined to provide any further information on the incident and said the Idaho Industrial Commission and/or OSHA are expected o conduct an investigation.
