Idaho Gives is the state’s second annual day of online giving. Hundreds of Idaho nonprofits representing every cause you can imagine have registered to be part of this massive fundraiser.

How does it work? Beginning at 12 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, you can log on to idahogives.razoo.com, choose your favorite charitable organizations and donate any amount you like. The website will accept donations until 11:59 p.m. Mountain.

Suspense all day: Groups will be eligible for cash prizes in addition to donations. Organizers will update the website with totals throughout the day. Log on often to see the latest numbers.

Is your favorite nonprofit throwing a party? Many organizations are holding special events Thursday to spur donations and spread the word about their work. A few examples:

The Idaho Humanities Council opens its headquarters from noon to 3 p.m., 217 W. State St. Meet the staff and have a cookie.

The suicide-prevention Speedy Foundation hosts an event from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Bogus Basin parking lot. Meet Speedy Peterson’s mom, enjoy food trucks.

Give to any registered group, bring proof of your donation to the Discovery Center of Idaho, 131 Myrtle St., and get in for $3 on Thursday.

Building on success: In 2013, Idaho Gives raised $578,735 for 541 nonprofit causes.
