Nampa's retail options blooming

Stores and a popular restaurant are coming to Canyon County.

Nampa is growing, and so are its shopping possibilities. A few big-box stores, a restaurant and a little-box store owned by a big-box company all will open fairly soon.


Where? 16885 N. Marketplace Blvd.

When? Later this year.

What? The Oklahoma-based retailer sells home decor and crafts, with large buildings (this one is 55,000 square feet) stocked with scrapbooking materials, fabric, baskets, accent furniture and other merchandise. It has a store on Eagle Road in Meridian.

Employees? About 35 to 50, paid hourly wages of $14 for full-timers and $9.50 for part-timers.


Where? Southwest corner of Roosevelt Avenue and Middleton Road.

When? Grand opening this summer.

What? This will be Wal-Mart's second Neighborhood Market in the Treasure Valley. It's a grocery store, with some extras (pet supplies and beauty products). The footprint - 42,000 square feet - is much smaller than the typical Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Employees? Up to 95 full-time and part-time positions. Hiring will start soon. The average hourly wage for full-timers is $12.34.


Where? In the Treasure Valley Crossing complex, at Midland and Marketplace boulevards.

When? The company hasn't announced a date. Its national grand opening schedule through mid-June doesn't include Nampa.

What? The national chain, with two existing stores in the Treasure Valley, sells pet food and supplies.

Employees? The company did not provide employee or wage information.

When? Dick's declined to say.

What? The chain, which has a store in Meridian, sells sporting goods and clothing.

Employees? The company declined to provide information.


Where? 16853 N. Marketplace Blvd.

When? June 23 is the target date for its opening.

What? The restaurant will be the second Treasure Valley location for the Tennessee-based chain. The first is on Cole Road near Interstate 84 in Boise.

Employees? About 150. The company declined to provide wage information.
