Employment drops for Idaho's workers in their prime

Statesman staffApril 24, 2014

The recession has had a long-lasting drag on Idaho's employment rate among people 25 to 54 years old, according to a new report from The Pew Charitable Trusts.

The report ranks Idaho 12th in the nation for the steepness of the employment decline in that age group between 2007 and 2013.

The employment rate in Idaho for people in their "prime working years" was 83.1 percent in 2007 and 77.7 percent in 2013, the report said.

The national average — lower than Idaho's, but with a less severe decline — was 79.9 percent in 2007 and 75.9 percent in 2013.
