Rep. Lawerence Denney, R-Midvale, former Speaker of the Idaho House, visited the Idaho Statesman Editorial Board Monday to discuss his candidacy for the GOP nomination of Sec. of State. Denney is in a primary race with Phil McGrane, deputy clerk in Ada County and former Idaho Sens. Mitch Toryanski and Evan Frasure. Denney believes his legislative and business experience have prepared him to be his party's nominee and to eventually hold office should he prevail in the general election. He would succeed longtime Sec. Of State Ben Ysursa, whom he has criticized for endorsing one of his SOS opponents, McGrane.
