Bishop Kelly High's Clevenger throws no-hitter

April 22, 2014

Senior Ross Clevenger wasn't penciled in to be Bishop Kelly High's ace pitcher at the start of the season, but coach Bobby Sutcliffe said it's turning out that way.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound righty threw his second no-hitter of the season in the Knights' 8-0 victory over Baker, Ore., on Monday.

"He has really grown to be a terrific pitcher," Sutcliffe said.

Clevenger, who recently signed with Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, struck out 10 and walked four against the Bulldogs. He has pitched 28 innings this season, giving up just five hits with "one of the best curveballs of any kid who has pitched for me," Sutcliffe said.

Clevenger also pitched a 14-1, five-inning no-hitter against Littleton, Colo., at the Greenway Festival on March 26 in Phoenix.
