Update: No obvious sign of foul play on body found in Boise canal

April 17, 2014

Boise police officers investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a Northwest Boise canal Thursday morning say there is no immediate indication of criminal activity and no indication of any public safety threat.

Police are working with the Ada County coroner to try to find out more about the woman and how she died. Investigators are still working to determine the woman's identity, police said, and no information has been released about how long the body may have been in the wter.

A canal company employee found what he thought might be a body in the canal behind a church in the 4700 block of West State Street about 9 a.m. Police and emergency medical workers responded and found the body in several feet of water.

Investigating officers say it is likely the cause of death will be determined by tests that may take some time to complete.

Additional information likely will be released as the investigation continues.
