A bankruptcy court has authorized Coldwater Creek Inc., the Sandpoint-based women's clothing retailer, to borrow $42 million for operations while it prepares for going-out-of-business sales next month at its more than 370 stores, Bloomberg News reported.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Brendan Shannon in Wilmington, Del., said the loan is “necessary to avoid irreparable harm” to the company, Bloomberg reported.

Coldwater filed for bankruptcy April 11 after failing to end years of losses. It has one Treasure Valley store in Boise Towne Square mall.
