A 20-year-old man suspected of burglarizing a Caldwell home was arrested Tuesday afternoon.

Police were dispatched at about 12:19 p.m. to a report of a robbery that had just occurred in the 2300 block of Dixie Circle.

A man who stopped at his home on his lunch break found a stranger inside, police said. The homeowner tried to restrain the burglar, and they fought. The burglar shoved the homeowner into a room and locked him in, but the man was able to get out and see the burglar's vehicle.

Information provided by the homeowner and witnesses outside the house helped police quickly identify a suspect. Within hours, they located him at a Canyon County house.

Michael Shane Gulley was charged with burglary, false imprisonment, destruction of evidence, no contact order violation and agents warrant. On felony probation for previous crimes, Gulley is a suspect in other recent burglaries, police said.

The homeowner suffered injuries to his face during the altercation with the suspect but he did not require medical treatment.
